Hi, my name is Scott Barrett. I am currently living and working as a Neuromuscular Therapist in Wellington, New Zealand. I have been working in the bodywork industry for 4 years, a short time, but an exciting time to come to the industry. More than ever is being learnt about the body and the relationship of the fascial system, collagen, scar tissue, nervous system and psychological factors.

Scarring can affect people in a range of ways whether it be ‘knots’ or ‘adhesions’ causing frustration or surgical scars holding emotional trauma, the effects on a person’s psyche can be profound. Likewise, the ability to aid someone in helping to change their scar tissue, regardless if it be cosmetically, functionally or emotionally can be profound.

Over the course of my time using MSTR® I have seen changes in range of motion treating adhesive capsulitis, changes in bowel function and low back pain from treating Cesarean sections as well as emotional relief from reduced symptoms, and massive psychological and cosmetic changes in a client with 10% partial thickness burns to her body. The use of MSTR® is heartfelt and versatile, with a range of applications for use.

The other thing I really love about MSTR® is that unlike other treatments, there is no backtracking. Unlike other therapies I offer such as neuromuscular techniques (NMT), myofascial release (MFR) or muscle energy techniques (MET), where continued change is dependent on the client’s input with home care, MSTR® offers results that don’t regress backwards without client input between treatments. This means great and maintained results for people seeking change in their tissue or overall well-being no matter what life throws at you between sessions.

I’m very excited at the opportunity to pass on this amazing technique to therapists of all modalities, so that they might have another tool in the kit to offer clients that may benefit from the use of MSTR® and the amazing results that often accompany it.

If you would like to book a one day, scheduled course delivered by myself, please go to my course listings for New Zealand.

Kind regards

Scott Barrett RMT
