Scars are often seen as the end of a story. A wound heals. The skin closes. Life moves on.At least, that is what we are told. But for many people, the story does not end there. Something lingers.

Over many years of working as a massage practitioner, I became increasingly aware that scars could have effects far beyond their visible appearance. Time and again, I encountered people whose symptoms did not fully make sense, until their history of injury or surgery was considered in a different light.

What became clear was this: scars are not simply marks on the skin. They are part of the body’s history.
