Welcome to my blog.

I’ll be honest - this is new territory for me. But it’s something I’ve been meaning to do for a long time.

My aim is simple: to share ideas, insights, and experiences around a subject that is often overlooked… but can have a surprisingly wide impact on how the body feels and functions.

Whether you’re someone living with a scar, or a healthcare practitioner with an interest in the topic, I hope you’ll find something here that resonates—and perhaps even changes the way you think about scars.

So why scars?

As a bodyworker for many years, I'd seen how scars can affect movement. They create tightness and restrictions - and I came to realise that scar tissue is sometimes at the root cause of many muscular and skeletal problems. In addition I found (back in the day) very little information about how to treat scars. So, being the inquisitve kind of practitioner I am, I set about developing a way of helping scar tissue soften and let go of those tensions and restrictions that they were creating.

The part that often gets missed

One of the most interesting aspects of the body is how connected everything is.

So when a scar doesn’t move as freely as it could, the body often adapts around it.

That might not be noticeable at first.

But over time, it can show up as:

  • a feeling of tightness

  • a sense of pulling

  • restricted movement

  • or even discomfort somewhere else entirely

This doesn’t happen in every case—but it happens often enough that it’s worth paying attention to.

And yet, scars are rarely considered as part of the bigger picture.

A different way of looking at things

In my work, I’ve seen many situations where a scar - sometimes years or even decades old - has been quietly influencing how the body functions.

Not in an obvious, dramatic way.

But enough to matter.

Enough to make a difference when it’s addressed.

That’s what sparked the idea for this blog.


What you can expect here

This isn’t going to be overly technical or filled with jargon.

Instead, I’ll aim to keep things clear, practical, and relevant.

We’ll explore questions like:

  • Why do some scars still feel tight years later?

  • Can a scar affect other areas of the body?

  • What signs are worth paying attention to?

  • And what, if anything, can be done about it?

Along the way, I’ll share observations from practice, common patterns, and insights that may help you better understand your own body—or your clients’ experiences.

A starting point

If you take just one thing from this first post, let it be this:

A scar may be small… but its impact isn’t always.
